JOHANNESBURG – Eskom says its diesel budget for the current financial year will be much lower than the previous term.
The embattled utility spent around R30 billion on diesel last year to keep the lights on.
This was to power open-gas cycle turbines to fill the gap in generation capacity.
Eskom’s Eric Shunmugam says while they do not have the exact figures, the spending will be far less than before.
